We fix up old bicycles and release them back into the wild.
Come join us every Saturday at 10am!

What we do
🛠️ Build confidence in bicycle repair
We want folks to feel empowered to fix bicycles.
♻️ Reduce waste
We receive abandoned bicycles from condos and bicycle donations from the wider community. Our volunteers give them a second life.
🚲 Support low-income folks with mobility needs
We donate refurbished bicycles to migrant workers.
✌️ Build community
What is more fun than hanging out and fixing bicycles with cool people from all walks of life?
🚦 Support a culture of cycling in Singapore
Commuting by bicycle is great for the environment, super for physical and mental health, cost-effective, and fun!
🤑 Provide low-cost bicycles
We fix up bicycles and sell them at reasonable prices to cover the costs of bicycle parts and tools.
What we don't do:
  • We are not a bicycle repair shop. We do not provide bicycle repair services. We won't fix your bicycle for you.
  • Instead, you are welcome to bring your bicycle to the co-op on Saturday mornings and use our tools during the session on a pay-as-you-wish basis (suggested: $10). You can ask our volunteers for guidance and tips on how to repair your own bike. Some parts are also available for purchase (indicative price list).
Things you can do at LCBC every Saturday
We meet each Saturday at 10am at 91 Lorong Chencharu. (Double-check our Instagram page to check if we're open or closed!)

Our history
2022: Origins
The idea for Lorong Chencharu Bicycle Co-operative (LCBC) first began after one of its founding members spent some time volunteering at a bicycle co-operative in the US.
Captivated by the promise of bicycle repair and the magic of community on wheels, they returned to Singapore and started looking for a suitable home.
2023: Finding a home
After discussions with different potential partners in Singapore, Ground-Up Initiative kindly offered to host the co-op and provide a space for the group to take root and grow.
2023-08-05: First LCBC session
On the August 5, 2023, the first bicycle repair session was held.
Seven volunteers came together to work on a broken bicycle.
Since then, LCBC has held repair sessions on almost every consecutive Saturday.
Today
Spearheaded by a collective of its volunteers, LCBC aims to reduce waste, share bicycle repair skills, support migrant workers with mobility needs, and build community. Taking inspiration from bicycle co-ops and bike kitchens around the world, LCBC hopes to provide a home for bike wrenching enthusiasts and enthusiasts-to-be.
LCBC’s primary activity is its weekly repair session every Saturday morning which anyone is welcome to show up and join. Any new participant is guaranteed to have access to repair tools, broken bikes, and good cheer. Senior volunteers provide guidance to newer participants on the ins-and-outs of bicycle repair, although the number of senior volunteers varies from week-to-week.
Come join us and experience the magic of bike repair for yourself (:

Lespo Mini-velo bicycle, refurbished, super fun ride

Great looking and fun-riding Lezpo mini-velo bicycle, with really cool shimano stem shifters. fully refurbished, brakes and shifts perfectly. A super hip Korean steel bike, with 20" wheels, brand new CST Zeppelin tires, grips, levers, rear brake caliper. Shimano shifters/derailleurs. 2x7 speeds, shifts perfectly. Sweet basket and rear rack for maximum practicality, while having the fun personality of a mini velo with quirky shifters. Specialized Stumpjumper M2 Pro, refurb 'hybrid'

Great looking yellow frame Specialized Stumpjumper M2 Pro from early 2000s, completely refurbished, with a new rigid alloy fork, brake calipers and pads, cables and housing, wide mountain bike platform pedals. XTR shifters. 3x9 speeds, shifts perfectly. Cool Ritchey seatpost with very cool shape curve. Tires still have plenty of life. The frame has scratches from previous owner's use, but if you're not fussy re: perfect aesthetics, I think these add character to this cool bike that is slightly 'vintage+frankenbike' in vibe but still excellent in performance stacked up with any new budget level bicycle. Really light at about 10.3kg (it'll be a struggle to find a bike this light at this price point). With the rigid fork we swapped out, it's effectively a wonderful hybrid bicycle with solid high-end 2000s-era MTB parts, a nice project from the LCBC bicycle co-op. As an added bonus, if any issues encountered down the line, you can bring it down to our bicycle co-op where our volunteers can help you to learn how to repair and maintain it yourself. Test ride and pick up Saturday mornings 10am-1pm in Khatib area, FCFS. All proceeds go to Lorong Chencharu Bicycle Co-op (insta lcbc.sg, https://lcbc.bike) which fixes abandoned bicycles and donates them to migrant workers. dutch auction style price will drop $30 starting two Sundays from now if not yet sold. -$420 up till Nov 2nd -$390 up till Nov 9th, etc

Are you at GUI every Saturday?
We are at GUI almost every Saturday. Follow our Instagram account for closure announcements!
I don't know anything about bike repair. Can I still come?
Don't worry — we'll teach you. We have tools and bicycle parts here, as well as experienced volunteers who can guide you through the basics.
What do you do with the money you make from bicycle sales?
We used funds made from the sale of refurbished bicycles to buy tools and bicycle parts so we can keep LCBC going! Neither our volunteers nor GUI take money for their work.
